How has your organization benefitted from being a member of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement?

In celebration of the Center’s 35th anniversary of service to the nonprofit community, we have launched a special campaign. The 35 Campaign is our chance to raise awareness in the broader community about the value the center brings to area nonprofits, helping them strengthen capacity through training and technical assistance programs, networking, advocacy and group buying power.

World Bank Nonprofit Training at SGE Conference

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement continued to deliver on our mission to make connections and build effectiveness by providing five Center members with full scholarships to attend a unique one-day training program. On Wednesday, November 6th, the Society of Government Economists hosted a conference at the Marvin Center at George Washington University, which included a special training workshop for nonprofits, co-presented by the World Bank Office of Community Outreach and the Urban Institute.

Leaders Connect in Maryland

More than 30 nonprofit leaders from the District of Columbia, Montgomery County and Prince George's County came together for the Center’s Maryland Mixer on November 7th in Rockville, MD. The event, hosted by the Center and the Nonprofit Village, offered a mix of open networking, targeted resource sharing and informative break-out sessions facilitated by area experts.

35 Campaign Receives First Donations

In Celebration of 35 years of service to the greater Washington region’s nonprofit community, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement has launched a 14-month campaign. The goal is to raise awareness of the Center’s accomplishments and the impact we’ve made on our nearly 1,000 member organizations. The Center also hopes to raise additional funds to allow us to continue our important work.

2013 Annual Celebration Success

Inside the newly renovated Howard Theatre, nearly 250 nonprofit,corporate, government and philanthropic leaders came together on October 17th for the Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s 34th AnnualCelebration. Updated for both appeal and performance, the venue served as the perfect backdrop for the event’s theme, “Evolving for Good.”

Announcing the 2013 Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman EXCEL Award Winners

The honorees for the Center's Gelman, Rosenberg & Freedman 2013 EXCEL (Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership) Award were announced and recognized at the Center's Annual Celebration on October 17. 

Shutdown Aid For Nonprofits and Federal Workers

The federal government shutdown is causing distress and difficulty for many people, around our region and around the country. The most obvious impact is of course felt by the displaced federal employees themselves.

"CREATE" event provides free marketing strategies for member nonprofits

On Saturday, September 28th, six Center members participated in a day-long event providing their organizations pro bono marketing support. Each nonprofit worked with a team of five to seven young marketing professionals, supervised by a seasoned expert. At the end of the day, each organization walked out with a professionally created marketing plan.

Meet the 2013 Phyllis Campbell Newsome Public Policy Leadership Award Winners

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2013 Phyllis Campbell Newsome Public Policy Leadership Award. Each year the Center recognizes four public officials for this award.  One official is recognized from each of the jurisdictions the Center supports including, the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

Health Forum Prepares Employers and Employees for Affordable Care Act Implementation

On Wednesday, September 24, the Center presented our first Health Forum to help member nonprofits navigate the changing health care landscape created by the further implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare.

Get Ready to Race

Grab your running shoes, tennis shoes or your walking shoes. It’s time for the Healthy Living Challenge: Acumen Solution Race For A Cause. Join the Center staff as we support our members on October 13 at 8:00 am in Arlington, VA for a race that will make a difference.
